1971
EBL, Inc. was founded in January of 1971 by Edgar
Boyce "Ed" Laird.
Ed Laird started
EBL. with a small bankroll and a great deal of knowledge and a
tremendous work
ethic. EBL was a company known to do difficult projects which
specialized in
concrete structures, primarily bridges. Ed Laird possessed the
knowledge to estimate
and build the projects. He grew EBL into a company of 5 crews.
1986
Ed Laird sold EBL, Inc. to his longtime partner H.
L. "Harold"
Gilbert. Under Harold
Gilbert's leadership EBL continued to grow and do larger and more
complex projects.
EBL built many railroad and roadway grade separations, storm water
pump stations and
sound walls that were new to Houston during the 1980's.
1993
Harold Gilbert sold EBL, Inc to W. K. Neely and
David Boehm and at
that time changed
the name to NBG Constructors, Inc. To preserve the EBL legacy Mr.
Gilbert kept the
same Federal ID number and changed only the name of the company. NBG
stands for
Neely, Boehm and Gilbert. Kyle Neely joined the company and was
responsible for the
accounting, and insurance portion of the business. Thru the 90's and
into the 2000's
NBG, Inc. grew and earned a reputation of being able to coordinate
and complete
emergency repair projects. During this period Mike Westering joined
NBG. Mike's
immense knowledge of bridges, repair work and other structures
proved to be an asset
in obtaining and completing a greater volume of work. Harold Gilbert
passed away in
2010 leaving Kyle Neely and David Boehm as sole owners.
2014
W. K. Neely sold his shares of NBG to David Boehm.
David Boehm is now
the sole owner
of NBG Constructors, Inc. During David's tenure NBG has grown in
both employees and
volume of work, and has built a team for small design-build
projects. NBG continues
to build new projects; overpasses, a cable stayed pedestrian bridge,
decorative
bridges, arched culverts and many other types of concrete
structures. NBG has done
many major bridge repairs including complete replacement of West
Dallas Street over
I 45, major deck repairs on Louisiana Street over Buffalo Bayou, and
bank
stabilzation of SH 99 at the Brazos River. It is our goal to
continue the traditions
and work ethic that Ed Laird and Harold Gilbert instilled in
EBL/NBG. We thrive on
difficult complicated projects by giving great attention to all the
details from the
owner to the laborers. NBG Constructors, Inc. has built a team of
professionals in
the construction industry that can compete with anyone.
